🌊 Celebrating with our Signature print: Posidonia Oceanica🌿
Posidonia Oceanica, commonly known as Neptune grass, is not just any plant—it’s a cornerstone of marine ecosystems. With its vast underwater meadows, Posidonia provides crucial habitat and protection for countless marine species, while also playing a vital role in oxygen production and carbon sequestration.
This remarkable seagrass is found throughout the Mediterranean, but the meadows around Ibiza and Formentera are some of the finest examples. Their significance is such that they have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The crystalline waters around Ibiza and Formentera are among the islands' most captivating attractions. The sea, at times, is so vividly turquoise that it could easily be mistaken for the Caribbean. This stunning clarity and color are due to one of the world's largest and oldest living organisms, which thrives along the sandy sea floor.
These underwater meadows stretch for miles. One notable patch off Formentera spans 15 kilometers, and in 2012, scientists studying samples from this area estimated the seagrass to be between 80,000 and 100,000 years old.
Our posidonia print capturing the essence of this marine marvel. Crafted from regenerated nylon, a material sourced from recycled ocean waste and industrial plastic, and handmade here in our Ibiza studio.
As we commemorate World Earth Day, let’s not only reflect on our planet’s wonders EVERY DAY but also take meaningful action to protect them. By supporting initiatives like sustainable fashion and choosing products that prioritize the environment, we can all be stewards of change in our own stylish way.
